Beautiful Bromo
Bromo was mentioned several times along the path from Jakarta to Lombok. It was the service point in JogJakarta for the Clevelands where I first caught wind of the plan to go to Bromo. It did not even know what Bromo was but I kept hearing from my touring party cohorts that we were going there. Continue reading “Beautiful Bromo”
Bangko Bangko Desert Point or Bust?
Another classic day. Heading west from Kuta Lombok to Seketong. A fuel stop and change of plan saw us detour to Desert Point Bangko Bangko. An unbelieveable ride in until we hit the dirt. A five kilometre run that started with a shitty flat section of broken down road and rocks followed by an extremely technical ride up a rocky ridge. We were on our own now having been shepherded from Jakarta to Bandung by the wonderful staff at our Indonesian supplier. Talk about great after sales service. Our trip was to take five and a half hours according to Google Maps. Continue reading “Banjar Blues”
Tampah Proof
Can you believe no one really goes to this beach! Well not tourists anyway, not yet. We met some locals here who lived right on the beach. No high rise here! Just living proof that you don’t need much in life to be happy. If a westerner built a house here it would have a window facing the beach. I suppose it is a bit different when building with bamboo, palm leaves and long grass. Continue reading “Tampah Proof”
